VMZINC frames Tivoli Friheden's new stage
Perforated zinc from VMZINC beautifully frames the new stage in Tivoli Friheden in Aarhus. With its 245 m2, the stage is one of Denmark's largest outdoor stages.
It was an impressive sight when Tina Dickow opened the stage for Fed Friday on May 6 surrounded by 5400 LED lights, which are held in place by the elegant construction of perforated zinc in VMZINC Nature.
An ambitious project
In the ambitious project, the entire concert area has been rethought and the ambition has been to create the best setting for musical experiences in the amusement park. The stage building with a total of 2400 floor meters was designed by Gjøde og Partnere Arkitekter in collaboration with Søren Jensen Rådgivende Ingeniørfirma.
The building is circular, and one half contains the stage, while the other half consists of three floors and is furnished with, among other things, restaurants and a green room for the performers.
A construction clad with perforated zinc in VMZINC Natur encircles the entire circular stage building. No less than 5400 LED lights are applied to the perforated zinc and create a beautiful setting for the festive events in the amusement park. In addition to the stage, the 2,400-storey stage building will contain restaurants and a green room.
Perforated zinc – light and malleable
For the project in Tivoli Friheden, a perforated zinc plate with a perforation rate of 46% has been chosen, where holes of 5 mm are evenly distributed over the plate.
Zinc is a long-lasting material, and even though the zinc is perforated, it has the same long life as a normal non-perforated zinc sheet. Read more about perforated zinc here
In Tivoli Friheden, the perfect combination of the transparency of the perforated zinc and the 5400 LED lights together created the beautiful blanket of light around the stage.
Perforated zinc with a perforation rate of 46% and 5 mm holes creates the transparent screen through which the LED lights can shine.
Fat Friday for many generations to come
Zinc is known for its long life and is especially known from the iconic rooftops in Paris from the mid-1800s. The original zinc on the roofs has been replaced here 170 years later. But there are examples of zinc having lasted up to 130 years.
There is therefore a prospect that the beautiful luminous crown on the work can give visitors good experiences on the new stage for many generations to come.
