The winners will be awarded the ARCHIZINC Trophy at an evening reception and will have their creations published in a special issue of FOCUS ON ZINC, an international architectural journal by VM ZINC®, 80,000 copies of which are distributed to building professionals in over 30 countries.

Projects in all architectural styles and from all parts of the world can be submitted to the jury. Innovative use of materials, aesthetics, functionality, and respect for the environment are some of the criteria to be considered by the jury which will reward the successful integration of zinc into the architecture. |

Die Zeitschrift hat eine Auflage von 80 000 Stück und wird an Baufachleute in über 30 Ländern verteilt.

Gebaute Projekte aus allen Teilen der Welt können eingereicht werden. Kriterien der Jury für die Auszeichnung der erfolgreichen architektonischen Integration des Materials Zink sind unter anderem die innovative Nutzung von Material, Ästhetik, Funktion sowie Umweltverträglichkeit.

PIGMENTO®: A different way to look at zinc
|
Zinc is naturally grey. Today, VM ZINC is branching out with new colours. Facades and roofs are taking on red, green and blue shades, opening up new horizons for architectural creation.
PIGMENTO® is constantly changing reflections, which play with light, the environment and volumes. Zinc blends perfectly with regional specificities and can be combined with other coloured materials (tiles, bricks, etc.).
The textured aspect of the pre-weathered zinc shows through the colour, just as the grain in wood is visible through its coat of varnish. Thus, the zinc retains its essential character. Audacious and attractive, PIGMENTO® pre-weathered zinc combines quality and durability, aesthetics and the avant-garde. Emotion and tradition are expressed in contemporary, personalised architecture.

The Grand Palais (Paris - France) | 2004.12
|
The Ateliers d'Art Français is recreating the ornamentation of the Grand Palais. Built for the World Exhibition of 1900, this historic monument gave an unrestricted view of the Champs Elysées and the Invalides. Over time it deteriorated and the state decided to begin restoration work, in particular on the facade decorations. This involves a total of 2.5 km of hip capping, the restoration of the peristyle (57 elements made up of 19 sections). Finally, the 27 metre dome is finished by a finial and a 2 metre diameter ball and the campanile by different ornaments. Thus this monument will once more take its place among the great monuments that are very much part of the identity of Paris.

|
In November 2003 we decided to give a new lease of life to FOCUS ON ZINC inviting architects to enter a 'Trophée ARCHIZINC' competition. All the winning projects are now published in this special edition, revealing the truly international flavour of the competition, with prizewinners from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland and Spain.
